GLL Sport Foundation Awards 2019 – Now Open

The GLL Sport Foundation Awards 2019 are now open until 20th February 2019 at http://www.gllsportfoundation.org/ and talented athletes are eligible to receive training, financial and sports science support.  In 2018, 116 athletes from NI obtained almost £70k in support including training membership to the 14 centres operated by GLL under the Better brandhttps://www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/belfast

GLL encourages all young aspiring athletes to consider applying in 2019 and please see the awards criteria below and at http://www.gllsportfoundation.org/awards-criteria/.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible athletes must fulfil at least one of the following;

  1. Live in the Belfast City Council area
  2. Be educated (school, college or university) in the Belfast City Council area
  3. Use the GLL/Better Leisure centres and gyms as your squad or club training venue

AWARDS & CRITERIA
Please review the criteria below before deciding which of the three awards to apply for.


1.Achievement Award
Top 8 GB & NI ranked athlete (age-band up to senior) plus either of the following;

  • Members of National squad (age-band up to senior) with National squad results in current year.
  • Top 8 finish (age-band up to senior) at National competition or equivalent competition in current year.

Awards

  • Financial award up to £250
  • Athlete training membership to Better centres and gyms
  • Sports performance support 


2.Top Up Award
Top 8 GB & NI ranked athlete (age-band up to senior) that is in receipt of UK Sport/Lottery/Sports Aid/Mary Peters Trust/ NGB or other partner or private funding.

Awards

  • Financial award up to £200
  • Athlete training membership to Better centres and gyms
  • Sports performance support 


3.Training Award
Nationally ranked athlete (age band up to senior) plus either of the following;

  • Members of regional squad (age-band up to senior) with Regional squad results in current year/Championship represented at regional level (age-band) in current year.
  • Top 8 finish (age-band up to senior) at Regionals or equivalent competition in current year.

Awards

  • Athlete training membership to Better centres and gyms
  • Sports performance support
