Sports Law Conference 2017- 10th November
The sixth annual Sport and the Law Conference will this year have the overall theme of Duty of Care in Sport. The Conference, organised by the Law Society of Northern Ireland in association with the Northern Ireland Sports Forum will, in addition to the usual comprehensive update, have prominent speakers in the Sports Law field, with academic and judicial input, to look at the challenges lawyers face in advising their clients – whether they be governing bodies, clubs, managers, coaches, players or officials.
We are delighted to have Baroness Tanni-Grey Thompson as our keynote speaker.
One of Britain’s greatest Paralympic athletes, Tanni, amassed a remarkable medal haul over 16 years and five Paralympic Games of 11 gold, 4 silver and a bronze. In 2005 she became ‘Dame’ Tanni Grey-Thompson for her services to sport. In March 2010, Tanni was created a life peer and was conferred as Baroness Grey-Thompson, of Eaglescliffe in the County of Durham.
In December 2015, as part of the UK Government Sporting Future strategy, the Minister for Sport asked Baroness Grey-Thompson to conduct an independent review into the Duty of Care sport has towards its participants. This report was published in April 2017.
Booking information will follow in the coming days.
