Covid-19 Coronavirus Latest

This afternoon (16th March)  a wide range of NI Sports Forum members met to discuss challenges facing them due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. Some who attended the meeting are from all-island bodies, some are regional bodies of a UK body whilst some are Northern Ireland bodies. This was a very constructive meeting which included positive engagement with Sport NI and the Department for Communities. It is clear that our sector has shown strong leadership in the last number of days and this was further evidenced at today’s meeting.

Sport plays an integral role in the health and wellbeing of society and members were keen to ensure that the health of our communities is the number one priority. We are committed to meeting again in the coming days following an update with health officials.

We advise members and the sporting sector to follow ongoing guidance from the Public Health Agency for Northern Ireland which can be found HERE

Guidance for the Covid 19 (Coronavirus) for the Republic of Ireland from the Health Services Executive can be found HERE. As many sporting organisations operate on an all-island basis we would ask that you are aware of advice that covers across both jurisdictions.
