GLL seek Regional Marketing Manager

 Job overview

GLL is looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to support the marketing and communications function of our Northern Ireland region in Belfast City Centre, where we’ve been operating since January 2015.  We’re the UK’s largest leisure operator and one of the first and largest leisure social enterprises, so we have a lot to be proud of and a lot of messages to communicate – both to the existing customer base and the communities that we serve.  Operating 14 leisure centres across a diverse and ever changing city will require a candidate that is a confident communicator and marketing practitioner to help further build our presence and reputation in the region.

This is a very hands-on role, with a lot of delivery and implementation but you’ll be fully supported by our central marketing team and the regional colleagues in Belfast. Ultimately, you’ll work autonomously to support the marketing and PR needs of our Better branded leisure centres which will give you the chance to really make your mark in the next stage of leisure transformation in the city.  Belfast City Council are investing over £105m into new leisure centres in the coming years and a key part of the role will be relaunching these new centres to get more people, more active, more often in Belfast. The latest of these investments at the New Olympia on Boucher Road was launched in January 2017.

Creating local campaigns for the centres and liaising closely with General Managers, you’ll help attract new customers with innovative techniques to effectively market a number of products in our centres.  With new products recently introduced such as a state-of-the-art luxury spa and ‘Better Coffee Corner’ café,  you’ll help with leading the launch of these products into our portfolio in Belfast. Your passion and enthusiasm for the sector will be evident by your up-to-date knowledge of trends and advancements, so naturally you’ll understand the power of social media (where you’ll already have a strong presence).

This role covers PR and marketing needs for the region, so you’ll be comfortable switching your hand to both. Whilst having an office base, there will be a reasonable amount of travel around Belfast and Northern Ireland.  You’ll have a good understanding of the political landscape in the region – most likely from doing a similar role either with a multi-site and/or national organisation. You’ll have a contact book full of media connections and know how to get your press releases in front of the right people.  You’ll thrive in a professional, corporate setting and embrace our commercial focus by using your customer facing campaigns to impact our bottom line. With your experience in the marketing arena, you’ll understand the importance of generating and measuring results. You’ll be experienced at working with budgets and have a keen understanding of all digital platforms such as eCRM, email marketing and digital advertising. You’ll be confident, approachable and able to remain calm under pressure and likely to have a relevant degree and/or professional qualification or be working towards this.

Our benefits include excellent training and career development – there is a genuine scope to progress within the company, heavily discounted membership at our leisure centres and all the support that you’d expect from a successful, people-oriented business.

GLL is an equal opportunities employer.

GLL is the UK’s largest leisure provider and one of the first and largest leisure social enterprises. Our aim is to get more people, more active, more of the time whilst making leisure and community facilities accessible and affordable. We operate 14 facilities in Belfast and have exciting expansion plans. We partner with local authorities to run leisure centres, swimming pools, libraries, children’s centres, spas, events spaces and world-class sporting venues such as the Copper Box Arena and London Aquatics Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – all under our Better brand. As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re different. Passionate about seeing our communities thrive, we invest back into our facilities, projects and people.

Working pattern: 39 hours

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Salary up to £30K

Initial Location: Belfast

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.
