The NI Sports Forum recognises the continuing challenges facing the health service due to the COVID-19 pandemic and understand that the NI Executive have had to make difficult decisions to overcome this virus with the extension of restrictions to 1st April.
We must recognise the disappointment of a number of members, clubs and the wider sporting public who are struggling to come to terms with the rationale for decisions being made not to allow some sporting activity to resume whilst allowing up to 10 people from two households to meet outside together as an example.
Today we have written to the Health Minister Robin Swann to request a meeting with him and relevant officials to understand this current stance and to discuss future decisions relating to the safe return of sports participation.
