Host: Denise Watson
Denise Watson has worked in TV and radio in Northern Ireland for over 30 years, including 17 years at BBC NI as a sports presenter and reporter. She hosted the Irish League football show Final Score, reported pitchside for The Championship, and won CIPR Sports Journalist of the Year in 2007 for her exclusive on Oisín McConville’s gambling addiction. After leaving the BBC in 2013, she joined UTV as a sports presenter before moving to U105. She also reports on NI international football for Talksport, covering men’s Nations League and European qualifiers, as well as the women’s World Cup and Euros campaigns.
Beyond broadcasting, Denise is a passionate advocate for women’s sport She freelances in TV, covering rallying and motorsport. In February, she launched a Women in Sport podcast in collaboration with Local Women Sport, where she also writes a monthly column. Denise is a proud mum to two daughters, Samantha and Elizabeth, who are involved in sport and musical theatre. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog Eddie and reading autobiographies.

- Dr. Ellen Henderson
Dr Ellen Henderson is a Lecturer in Health Psychology at Ulster university and course director for the online MSc in Health Psychology at Ulster University. Her research uses mixed methods to address research questions related to health and illness. She has recently completed a programme of research around menstrual pain and will present on some findings around how sports participation may impact on perception of, and appraisal of menstrual pain and how sports coaches and governing bodies could work to facilitate sports participation during menstruation.
- Sinead Chambers
Sinead Chambers is a highly accomplished sports physiotherapist, with passion for Paralympic sport. Sinead has recently returned from the Paris Paralympics, where she worked as part of the Paralympics GB HQ Physio staff. Prior to this, she worked extensively with GB Para Badminton during the Tokyo 2020 cycle, gaining a wealth of knowledge in the field of Paralympic sports. Sinead currently works within the physiotherapy team at the Sports Northern Ireland Sports Institute, providing physiotherapy support to top NI athletes. With her experience as a former athlete in Badminton, having competed in three Commonwealth Games for NI, Sinead‘s experience as an athlete & physio has developed a valuable insight into the nuances of women’s sport
- Angela Carin
Angela is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise and Health at Ulster University, Northern Ireland. Her research interests include the development and evaluation of interventions to promote physical activity in children and adolescents, and the determinants of physical activity across the lifecycle.
Angela is Principal Investigator on the Y-PATH NI project, involving the development and testing of the Youth – Physical Activity Towards Health intervention in post-primary schools in Northern Ireland. Angela’s current research collaborations also include the Walking In Schools (WISH) Trial: A peer-led, school based walking intervention for adolescent girls, and EUMOVE, an Erasmus+ Project aimed at implementing a comprehensive set of strategies and resources to enable the educational community to promote healthy lifestyles. Angela co-leads the all-island research working group for the Ireland North and South Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth. Angela co-leads the Northern Ireland country card, as part of the Global Observatory for Physical Activity.
