The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment of an Ordinary Member to the Board of Horse Racing Ireland that is representative of the horseracing industry in Northern Ireland. Details on the role of Board Members can be found in Section 3 of the Code which can be found here.
Essential
Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience, at an appropriately
senior level in the following areas:
• Demonstrable knowledge of the horse racing and breeding industries, particularly as it
pertains to Northern Ireland as applicant must be representative of horse racing in
Northern Ireland.
• Commercial and business skills ideally within international markets
• A proven record of achievement which demonstrates the necessary leadership skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with multiple
stakeholders.
Desirable
• Experience at a senior level in at least one of the following areas – financial expertise,
digital transformation, sustainability and or governance.
• Have a well-developed appreciation of best practice in governance, risk management
and compliance.
• An understanding of, and engagement with, the workings of state agencies, the public
sector, and the mechanics of government.
• Prior experience of Board membership.
