Our 11th annual sports development conference will take place on Monday 14 December 2015 in the Clayton Hotel, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast.
The conference will showcase the best of sports development procedures and good practice.
Special guests will include John Inverdale (BBC presenter) and Mark Colbourne MBE (paralympic medallist and international speaker).
CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
- 6pm – Arrival, registration and refreshments
- 6.30pm – Welcome and introductions
- 7pm – Workshops (see below for details)
- 7.45pm – Funding clinic (Olympic Suite, open to all delegates) – Get specific advice on funding and small grants for individuals, club development, facilities and governing bodies.
- 8.30pm – 9pm – Closing remarks
WORKSHOP DETAILS
We recommend clubs send one person to each workshop to cover all areas.
WORKSHOP 1 – MENTAL HEALTH AND SPORT
Facilitated by Aine McDonald from Aware, Defeat, Depression in partnership with Sport NI.
Workshop focuses on mental health and the role of sport. Signs and symptoms and sources of help.
WORKSHOP 2 – SPORT NI – MULTI FACILITY FUND
Facilitated by Stephen McIlveen from Sports NI.
Workshop focuses on Sport NI’s £17.5m sports facility fund, outlining priorities, the importance of articulating the need and what Sport NI expect from applicants.
WORKSHOP 3 – DEVELOPING YOUR CLUB
Case study. Grove United and Sirocco FC talk about club development plans and their benefits.
WORKSHOP 4 – NUTRITION FOR SPORT
Fuel your performance. Start with a KISS approach.

WORKSHOP 5 – ENGAGING ‘AT RISK’ YOUTH
Facilitated by Jim Donnelly, Active Community Network.
Inspiring disengaged youth to reach their full potential.
