FREE TRAINING SESSIONS AVAILABLE – Mental Health and Well-being Through Sport

40 training sessions are available on a first come first served basis.

Open to all sports clubs and community groups with structured sporting activities and community sport in place.

The Mental Health Awareness training sessions are perfect for coaches, committee members, senior players and volunteers with a pastoral role. Breaking down the stigma and raising awareness of mental health issues, is a vital part of sports club and group management.

The training session will:

  • Describe what is meant by the terms mental illness and mental health.
  • Give you awareness of causes of depression and explain the early signs to look out for
  • Increase knowledge of what to do if you believe someone is facing challenges
  • Reduce stigma thereby increase the likelihood that someone affected by the illness will seek professional help to recover.
  • Identify ways of looking after your own mental wellbeing.

The training session last 3 hours and can be delivered at your club or community centre or local hall and arranged with the training provider on a date which suits your club.

Those clubs and groups hosting the training on their own premises for their members and supporters, will also receive a Minding Your Head toolkit including training cones, bibs, banners and water bottles.
