Important survey launched on use of outdoors during lockdown
A new survey has been launched to find out how the public in Northern Ireland has been able to exercise and engage with the outdoors during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Since the 23rd March 2020, Government rules have stated that people can leave their homes once a day to exercise. However, you have been required to stay local and exercise social distancing.
Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland is conducting the online survey in order to identify how people have been engaging with the outdoors, what the impact has been on their mental and physical health, and to allow the public to offer their opinion and inform decisions going forward.
The organisation, which works with government, local authorities and other key stakeholders to promote outdoor recreation, is seeking people’s opinions about any improvements that could be made in their local areas to help them engage with the outdoors more often.
Dawson Stelfox MBE, Chairperson of Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland added: “The link between enjoying nature and outdoor spaces and good mental and physical health is well established. Discussion regarding use of the outdoors has perhaps never been more prevalent than it has been during lockdown. This survey provides an important opportunity to gain public opinion of the current gaps in provision and to inform how these may be addressed.
The Survey launches on Monday 4th May and closes on Friday 15th May 2020. To Have Your Say please click here:
