€40m (£35m) to support local community level organisations to deliver projects which have the potential to achieve peace and reconciliation will shortly open for applications.
Ahead of the schemes formally opening, a series of ‘Be Ready’ community information events are now scheduled to take place across the PEACEPLUS Programme Area.
Applications will be sought from eligible organisations involved in grassroots/locally based activities including:
- Non-government organisations (NGOs).
- Local community groups.
- Associations, including those focused on social inclusion opportunities, e.g. ex-offenders, sports, arts, history and cultural bodies, traveller; migrant; disability support organisations.
- Voluntary sector organisations.
- Universities, schools, colleges, higher education, research institutions.
The Department for Communities is the Northern Ireland Accountable Department for three Investment Areas within the PEACEPLUS Programme. This includes the two small grant schemes, one under Investment Area 1.2 Empowering Communities and one under Investment Area 6.2. Maintaining and Forging Relationships between Citizens. The schemes are referred to as the ‘Change Maker Funding Programme’.
The Change Maker Funding Programme aims to distribute €40 Million over the next three years to support people to people projects on a cross community and/or cross-border basis.
Co-operation Ireland, in partnership with Rural Action and East Border Region will deliver these support events across the region.
