Purpose of the fund
The Support for Sport: Hospitality grant provides small grants to assist sports clubs and sports governing bodies engaged with sport and physical activity with providing hospitality while hosting events within Belfast that will bring visitors to the city.
Funding Limits
Maximum award: £3,000 each financial year, groups may make multiple applications during both calls for funding but a group will only receive a maximum of £3,000 in total each financial year.
Events which are repeated, for example on an annual basis, will only be eligible for a Support for Sport: Hospitality grant on 3 occasions.
Support for Sport: Hospitality Grant – specific conditions for eligibility
Organisations must:
- Be Belfast based that is must meet, train, compete and be administered within Belfast and / or have Belfast residents comprising at least 75% of its membership. (With the exception of Governing bodies)
- Demonstrate a need to provide hospitality
- Demonstrate value for money (please see Grant Awards below)
Eligible Project Costs
This scheme can be used to pay:
- Catering (including food, non-alcoholic drinks and directly related non-food consumables)
- Contracted caterers where required
We will not give funding for the following project costs:
- Staff costs
- Facility Hire
- Event Marketing
- Alcohol
- Gifts, medals, certificates or trophies
- Travel or accommodation.
Grant Awards
The following criteria will be applied to prospective events who are seeking hospitality
- Bringing less than 50 visitors from outside Northern Ireland to the city – not eligible for funding
- More than 50 but less than 100 – £1,000 maximum award
- More than 100 but less than 200 – £2,000 maximum award
- More than 200 – £3,000 maximum award
- Where an event is being held at a clubs’ own premises funding may be offered to a maximum of £5 per head; events held elsewhere may be offered a maximum of £15 per head
Please note where hospitality is being provided outside of a clubs’ own facilities, Belfast City Council facilities should be used if practicable. If this is not possible the venue still must be within the Belfast Electoral area and visiting competitors / guests must be staying in Belfast.
