Sport Northern Ireland begin public consultations on new participation initiative ‘Everybody Active 2020‘ – an investment model which been put forward to replace the Active Communities Programme, which is due to end next March.
The Board of Sport Northern Ireland has approved a policy paper regarding the proposed initiative.
he paper recommends that women, people with a disability, older people and those living in areas of high social need continue to be prioritised as they are under-represented in sport.
There are four proposed strands which centre on a theme of ‘Everybody Active’:
- Opportunities;
- Workforce Development;
- Outdoor Spaces; and
- Small Grants.
The paper recommends an indicative investment of around £14m in the period 2015-2020. This would support the delivery of Sport Northern Ireland’s draft Corporate Plan.
