Colleagues at the Sport and Recreation Alliance have commissioned Sheffield Hallam University to undertake a further survey on the impacts from Covid as well as how the cost of living crisis is affecting sports’ clubs/groups
Local Sport clubs and organisations in Northern Ireland can also complete the survey and data will be shared with the NI Sports Forum to gauge current impacts from the cost of living crisis and enable us to highlight this to local government. The survey focuses on the effects of Covid-19 and if/how they will be impacted by the increase in the cost of living.
A recent report by Sport London highlighted that around half of local participants agreed that the rising cost of living had limited their ability to afford both sport and leisure equipment. It also highlighted 27% of the UK population reported cutting back on physical activity and sport due to escalating costs.
