We want to acknowledge the fantastic sporting achievements within the Borough and would welcome applications in the following areas:

Services to Sport
Awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution to sport within the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area. This award is open to referees, umpires, club officers, and groundsmen etc. who have made a significant impact to the development of sport, performers, a club or community within the Council area.

Club of the Year
Awarded to a club within the Borough which has made a noteworthy contribution to its sport over the last year. This contribution may take the form of team results, recruitment of members or the development of club structures and functions to meet the needs of existing and new members.

Coach of the Year
This award recognises the contribution of a coach/manager to sporting achievement within the Borough. This award is open to any governing body registered coach/manager who coaches either within the Borough or at a representative level and has worked to develop outstanding athletic performance over a number of years.

Adult Sportsperson of the Year
This award recognises an individual with an outstanding individual performance and is open to males and females who were over the age of eighteen on 1 January 2016. Nominated individuals must reside in or have resided in the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area.

Junior Sportsperson of the Year
This award recognises an individual with an outstanding individual performance and is open to both males and females who were under the age of eighteen during the period of 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016. Nominated individuals must reside in the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area.

Junior Team of the Year
Awarded to a club within the Borough which has made a noteworthy contribution to its sport over the last year. The majority of the team membership must be under the age of 18 during the period of 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016. The contribution may take the form of team results, recruitment of members or the development of club structures and functions to meet the needs of existing and new members.

Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability
Awarded to an individual with a physical or learning disability who has had a successful year of competition. This award is open to both male and female individuals who reside in the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area.

With this being the first sports awards programme with the new Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council we hope to have as large an entry as possible and showcase the considerable range of sports in the Borough. Please forward this to anyone who may find it of interest.
