Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience in public service to develop sport and help it make a positive difference to our local community? If so, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure wishes to appoint up to 5 Members to the Board of Sport NI.
Sport NI’s mission is to lead sports development at all levels producing more participants and more winners. It works with partner organisations to ensure that sport contributes to a united community, and that people and athletes are provided with the conditions to enjoy, engage and excel in sport.
Skills and Experience
Applications are welcome from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service, including those with suitable experience gained in the community, voluntary, business or public sectors. Applications from women, people with a disability, people from minority ethnic groups and young people would be particularly welcomed.
You do not need to have previous experience of serving on a Board, or any specific qualifications, and those appointed will undergo an appropriate induction programme.
Criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a range of skills and experience: including a commitment to equality and social inclusion, an interest or involvement in sport, experience of corporate governance, evidence of working together, experience in providing leadership and setting strategic direction and an understanding of financial issues. Appointment Details
• All appointments are for a term of up to 4 years from December 2015.
• The time commitment for all Board Members is 2 days per month. These appointments are unpaid but travel and subsistence allowances will be payable.
