The NI Sports Forum welcomes today’s announcement from the NI Executive on the pathway out of restrictions with some outdoor sport and physical activity permitted from 1st April with further relaxations planned for April 12th. After a long period of inactivity, many will be delighted to hear that they can soon return to their chosen activities.
We would urge the NI Executive to urgently provide updated regulations to the sports sector to allow sports governing bodies, clubs and facility providers to adequately prepare for the return to activity.
In response to the pandemic, the sports sector has worked together to ensure robust protocols and procedures were put in place and adhered to, ensuring a safe sporting environment for everyone involved. We strongly ask that the sporting community continue to comply with these protocols to facilitate the sector moving along the pathway out of restrictions.
We appreciate that the indoor sporting sector is still waiting on further information on their return to activity and we will continue to engage with the NI Executive, Sport NI and our members to ensure that indoor sport is adequately prepared when the time comes for the resumption of indoor activity within the Gradual Easing pathway phase.
