NI Sports Forum welcomes new Board members at 2022 AGM

The Northern Ireland Sports Forum held its 2022 AGM at the NICCSA Pavilion in Stormont on Wednesday 16th November.

Ashley Hunter, Chair of the NI Sports Forum, welcomed over 26 representatives from member organisations; highlighted the work of the Forum over the past year and welcoming three new staff members.  Cath Quinn, Treasurer, updated on the organisations end of year finances and thanked the Finance Committee for their support.

As part of proceedings, three Board members were elected onto the Board with Dr Paul Donnelly from Ulster University, Karen Rollo, Netball NI and Amina Martin, Triathlon Ireland joining the Sports Forum as Directors.  Allan Rutherford, Chair of the Business Development Committee stood down at this AGM.  Ashley Hunter thanked him for his work and enthusiasm for the role over the past 3 years, helping diversify the income of the organisation as well as developing the services offered to members and welcomed the new directors.

Following official business, Conal Heatley, Business and Development Manager at the Commonwealth Games NI, presented on the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, highlighting the success, preparations and challenges this year’s Games presented.  TeamNI brought home a record number of medals across a wide range of sports and guests were able to ask questions of Conal.

A subsequent meeting on the nominations committee also appointed Chris Morrow as a Director for a further 3 years, stepping in as Chair of the Business Development Committee.

Speaking after the AGM, Chair, Ashley Hunter said: “We would very much like to thank members who gathered this evening in support of the NI Sports Forum.  I am pleased to welcome our three new directors, who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience form across the sector and help set the direction of the organisation in the upcoming years.  I am also pleased that Chris Morrow will remain with the organisation and bring his expertise from the business sector into sport.”
