UK Public Consultation on the UK National Anti-Doping Policy

SportNI would like to make you aware that the UK government has now opened a public consultation on the UK National Anti-Doping Policy.  The Policy sets out the roles and responsibilities for UK Anti-Doping, the Home Country Sports Councils, Governing Bodies of sport and the National Anti-Doping Panel.

NGB’s anti-doping roles and responsibilities are set out in section 4 of the Policy and include:

  • adoption of code compliant rules,
  • education of athletes and athlete support personnel,
  • therapeutic use exemption (TUE’s),
  • drug testing,
  • results management/sanctions requirements
  • consequenecs for NGB’s for non compliance with the Policy.

It’s your opportunity to contribute to the consultation and the feedback received will assist in the creation of a revised Policy that will be launched in the UK, with the aim of ensuring that sport continues to be played on a level playing field.

The consultation is open now and will close at  midday on Monday 25 November,

2020 – Prohibited List

Please also be aware that WADA has announced the publication of the 2020 Prohibited List of substances and methods which can be found here:  The List is released three months ahead of it taking effect on 1 January 2020, so that athletes and their entourage can acquaint themselves with any modifications.   Ultimately, athletes are responsible for prohibited substances found in their body and prohibited methods found to have been used.     SportNI would recommend that you raise awareness amongst your athletes to continue to check any medication purchased on globaldro.  (or if purchased in ROI – Eirpharm)
